On Sunday the 5th of October 2008 to commemorate the last voyage of the QE2 to the Clyde we are offering all tea and coffee at 1967 prices, the year of the liners' launch.

The iconic vessel should pass the Seaview Cafe at approximately 11am.

This offer is valid all day, one per person and for take away only.


 


Celebrating the sponsorship of the local Largs Colts Under 10's football team we are launching a competition to create an Ice Cream Special Sundae, designed and named by you! All profits from the sale of this Ice Cream will go directly to the development of the team. This competition is open to under 15's only.

The prize is to be the first to taste your creation, a football top and a meal for 4 in the cafe.

St. Patrick's Charity Fundraiser, well done to all who attended with over £600 raised (and a few glasses too), the night was a great success.

Thursday 11th October 2007

SCOTTISH Opera singers who have graced the stage in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Covent Garden performed to a thrilled audience recently in the intimate atmosphere of the cafe. Guests were also treated to a selection of fresh home made pasta dishes.

This evening was organised by friends of Scottish Opera, in conjunction with the Attic Players, as a preview evening of Scottish Opera's forthcoming production, Mozart’s Seraglio.

It is hoped similar events will take place in the New Year, for more information on tickets please contact the attic players direct.

To commemorate 40 years since the QE2 was built and coinciding with its visit to Greenock, all tea and coffee to carry out was at 1967 prices for the day!! That's 8p for coffee, 5p for tea !!

Charity Quiz and the 100k in a day Cycle for Gillian's Saltire Appeal

A marvellous turnout and good night was had by all at the recent charity quiz night in aid of Gillian's Saltire Appeal.

If I can also extend a big Thank You to all the customers and staff who have contributed over the past week in helping us achieve a total of £1425.00, nearly three times our original target, just magnificent!!

A full house for our second Quiz night, the Mexican themed spoils went to the Desperate Housewives, justly deserved with a record winning score of 31, well done, ladies. Want to try this quiz? The next quiz night will resume in the winter and is scheduled for December.

Thanks to all who came out and braved the elements for our first, therefore, historic Seaview Cafe Pizza, Pasta and a Ponder Quiz Extravaganza, and on a bracing Monday night!! The papers were calling it National Sickie Day but we had a full house !! All I can say is thank you to all our customers for making it a memorable night. Want to try this quiz?

Our first venture in this field saw us hold our inaugural Alternative Burns Supper. Many thanks to our speakers including seasoned veterans Harry, Eddie and of course Jim for organising proceedings. We hope to see you all next year.......

Seaview Cafe on the web

The cafe was mentioned in both The Scotland on Sunday and BBC News Interactive following the meeting of Italy with France in the World Cup Final 2006 in Berlin. On the day of the final all the staff in the cafe were kitted out in Italian tops. The Azzurri page of www.scotsitalian.com recounts the big day in Berlin itself.

Following the Italian Dinner hosted by Slow Food experts Fabio Nutini and Enio Pieraccini, their tantalising treats from Northern Tuscany served up right here in Wemyss Bay have been reported in two local Italian newspapers, Il Corriere di Lucca and Il Tirreno.

Seaview Cafe on Film!!! Highly acclaimed Scottish Short Story, Miracle of Silence, by Dabhand Films is filmed on the premises and is currently doing the tour of Film Festivals following its premiere on May the 6th 2005.

Local drama group, the Attic Players recreated the stage play of BBC comedy 'Allo 'Allo in the Cafe. The 10 night run was met with great enthusiasm from the audience who also enjoyed a traditional French meal. Magnifique indeed.

EVENT CONDITIONS

 

These events are listed first at www.seaviewcafe.co.uk before going to press. They sell out very fast and we recommend early booking. Places are available on a first come first served basis, phone 01475 521 733 to book or for a cancellation, or come in to the cafe to secure.

We accept all major credit cards.

We can hold a reservation for 24 hours.

Conditions

Due to a small number of erroneous bookings in the past, and because of limited space, it is with regret that we must now ask for either full payment for tickets or £10 per person in advance. (For Pizza, Pasta and Quiz night the payment is £5 per person).

Deposits can only be returned under specific circumstances.

The following applies to full payment in advance

  • If your table is cancelled more than seven days prior to the event we will offer a full 100% refund.
  • Cancellations will be refunded to 50% if cancelled between seven and three calendar days prior to the events.
  • Cancellations under three days before the event will be charged at full price, with no refund.
  • We cannot transfer dates once the deposit or ticket has been paid.
